Corrections: Report a Mistake on Smokers Lung

Found a mistake? Tell us and we will put it right

If something on Smokers Lung is wrong, you can report it, and we will check it and fix it if it is wrong. The people who run this site make mistakes like anyone, and details can go out of date even when a page was built with care. We are sorry when that happens, and we want to put it right.

What to report

Please tell us about a fact that is wrong. That could be an ingredient, an amount, a price, a guarantee or refund term, or what a study found. A cited source that does not say what our page says, or a link that no longer works, is also worth sending. So is a wrong product or maker, or details that have changed, including a recall or safety warning.

A product described in a way that breaks advertising or health-claim rules is worth reporting too, as is an ad or banner that is not labelled as one or that makes a claim of its own.

For example, a nicotine strength printed on a product label is a fact worth checking. If a page gives a strength that does not match the label on the packaging, that is a correction. Or if a page says a study found one thing, and the paper itself says something narrower, send us the paper.

How to report it

Use the contact page. Include the page address, the sentence you think is wrong, and a source for the correct information if you have one. Each report is checked against its source. If the page is wrong, we fix it, and the date line then shows “Updated” with the date of the change.

Corrections cover facts and compliance. Which products a page covers, and how it compares them, are editorial decisions made by the publisher named on the About page, which also explains commissions and any connection to products shown. Requests to remove a comparison, a competing product or an ad are not corrections, but we do read them. A maker who finds something wrong about its product is welcome to send the source so the page can be updated.

Our How We Research page explains how our pages are built and checked.

Serious harm and legal notices

Legal notices and concerns about a product’s safety also go through the contact page. If you or someone you know has been harmed by a product, speak to a clinician and report it to the FDA through MedWatch.
